What is Commercial and Production Music?
Commercial Music refers to commercially released repertoire. The Commercial Music side of I Like Music offers access to our unique collection that includes the entire UK Top 40 since the charts began in 1952, the majority of the US Hot 100 since 1954 and hundreds of thousands more from every conceivable genre including Rock, Indie, Jazz, Metal, Folk, Funk, Country, Soul, Classical and Film Soundtracks.

Production Music refers to tracks recorded and created for the purposes of production and broadcast, also referred to as Mood Music, Library Music orPublishers Library Music. The Production Music side of I Like Music offers access to one of the largest aggregations of Production Music in the UK, comprised of many of the UK’s biggest and best libraries and labels that are all PRS/MCPS registered. What is the cost of the service?
The cost of subscription to I Like Music depends on what music you require, a choice you make when filling in the registration form. Commercial Music (includes unlimited usage of Production Music)

Is I Like Music available 24/7?
Yes. The online service is available 24/7 but technical support and feedback are only available in office hours.

Can I access it at home or from any computer?
Yes – Please refer to Terms and Conditions for conditions of use.

How is the sound quality compared to a CD?
It’s exactly the same. Files are delivered in the same technical format as on CD. In the case of Commercial Music this is 44.1 kHz sample rate, 16 bit uncompressed, with no encryption. Production Music tracks are delivered at 48 kHz sample rate.

Can I download recordings from I Like Music for my own use?
No. This contravenes the Terms and Conditions of the service and may result in the termination of your account.

Can I share content?
Only in the context of legitimate business use, for example production company to broadcaster.

Can someone else use my login/password?

What if I have forgotten my password?
Enter I Like Music and click on Forgotten Password? Enter your email address and your password will be sent to you.

How do I send feedback and what is it for?

Rights / Clearance FAQ

Does downloading music from I Like Music give me the right to use it in a production for broadcast/public performance?
No. I Like Music is only a method of delivering high quality music it does not give you automatic clearance rights to the music.

Technical FAQ

What are the hardware and software requirements?
Hardware requirements are an internet enabled PC. There are no special software requirements as the service is accessed via a website; an embedded flash player is used when ‘Auditioning’ songs.

In what format is the music?
Online copies of the recordings to be auditioned are streamed as 64 kb/s, mono MP3 files.

The downloaded files are broadcast quality WAV format. For commercial music this is 44.1 kHz sample rate, 16 bit uncompressed, with no encryption, while production music tracks are delivered at 48 kHz sample rate.

How reliable is the service?
The system will be available at all times. Any scheduled downtime will be communicated on the front page.

How long does it take to download a broadcast quality recording?
Broadcast quality files can be very large (approximately 10 megabytes per-minute of music and these could take a few minutes to download). Download times will depend on a number of factors such as the amount of traffic on your internal network, your hardware or the available bandwidth for your network.
